I was born and grew up in St. Paul and moved to Rochester after college to begin working as a secondary English teacher for the Rochester Public Schools—a career I loved for 40 years. During that time, I served as a department chair, staff development chair, new teacher mentor, gifted and talented coordinator and advisor for a wide array of student groups.

Everyday I had the responsibility and privilege of working hard to inspire, challenge and empower every learner. And every day I had the amazing opportunity to learn about the world through the eyes of students. I learned a lot from them!

​

I continue to learn from the students and stakeholders in this school district. Their life experiences and perspectives are diverse, and that diversity makes our community better and stronger. 

​

My three grown children are RPS graduates, and seven of my grandchildren are currently students or recent graduates of RPS. It's wonderful to see how teaching and learning continue to evolve and become more engaging and creative with each passing year.
